We strongly believe that virtual reality will be a game changer for the disabled community. We’ve seen first hand the effects of virtual reality on people with a variety of disabilities. We want to create content for virtual reality that will transport people with disabilities to the Smoky Mountains.
We started out as a virtual reality enthusiasts. We bought the DK2 and were overwhelmed by the possibilities of virtual reality. The investment of our 360 camera rig has been a game changer. We realized that we can go beyond creating CGI experiences and actually create real life experiences for virtual reality. We have experience creating virtual reality experiences through 360 video for events, virtual tours, training and outdoor experiences. Our vision for Smoky Mountain VR came to us when we created 360 video during one of our hiking trips. We decided after watching this experience at home that we wanted to create an app around these experiences for outdoor and hiking enthusiasts. We didn’t realize the full potential of this app until we met with the team and East Tennessee Technology Access Center. The team members with disabilities were blown away by being able to go to the mountain peaks they would never be able to access. This is when we decided that we had no choice but to keep going with this app and make it a reality. The disabled community deserves to have this app and access to these experiences.
